Multiple flats in London to become energy efficient courtesy of EDF
Around 37 blocks of flats in the Borough of Barking & Dagenham are set to become more energy efficient courtesy of EDF Energy, who is investing more than £500,000 as part of the Government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO).
The energy supplier is partnering with contractor Avalon and the the project is expected to cut around 18,000 tonnes of carbon emissions and bring “significant” savings on consumers’ fuel bills every year.
Eric Salomon, Energy Field Services Director at EDF Energy said: “This project will make a significant difference to the lives of local residents, who will benefit from lower fuel bills and much warmer homes. We are proud that we are able fund improvements for Avalon’s installation team to help people living in cold and hard to treat flats.”
HeatingSave – helping flat owners save energy and money
An even better idea of making massive fuel savings – suitable for all sorts of homes, including flats – is to make sure that your existing central heating or hot water system is running as efficiently as possible. This is done by installing a building energy management system from the likes of HeatingSave.
Now is an ideal time because the greatest savings made by HeatingSave is in the autumn as the planet starts to cool down and heating systems come on. HeatingSave also allows you to set the water temperature differently throughout the day. All this reduces the amount of electricity needed to heat the hot water, saving you money at the same time.
