UK manufacturers express concerns over rising energy costs, study reveals
Energy management systems and the implementation of various energy efficiency/saving solutions are now being discussed at executive level by almost nine in ten businesses in the manufacturing segment, a recent survey by technology manufacturer Siemens was able to reveal.
Rapidly rising energy costs are particularly concerning for the UK manufacturing firms, the majority of firms participating in the survey answering that they represent a “business critical issue”.
In fact, business leaders of the 600 manufacturing firms who answered the questionnaire have subsequently warned that if these costs are not kept under control, the stability of the industry as a whole as well as the UK economy would be subject to financial turbulence.
Rising costs have forced businesses to engage in more effective energy management systems and sources, with the report highlighting a drive in investment for renewable energies and energy saving technologies.
