Over 3,000 companies have not notified the Environment Agency over ESOS compliance

Over 3,000 large organizations that are eligible for the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) have failed to notify the Environment Agency (EA) of their intent to comply, the organization has recently revealed.

ESOS is a mandatory assessment scheme for large organisations in the UK, which includes audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify savings.

The Environment Agency (EA) has received 6,500 notifications by 5th December 2015. Out of that, 4,000 said they had fully complied and 2,500 confirmed they intended to comply by 29th January.

However, that leaves 3,000 eligible firms yet to submit their notifications. And they are starting to run out of time, since the deadline for late submission without attached penalties is the end of January.
