EDF Energy announces relatively small 3.9 per cent energy price hike
EDF Energy, one of the UK’s Big Six energy suppliers, has just announced a winter price hike of just around 3.9 percent on dual fuel bills, which is the smallest yet, compared to the rest of the energy companies out there.
According to a media report on this topic, the French-owned supplier said the increase is clearly “unwelcome”, but even so, it makes it significantly cheaper than each of its rivals. As you might remember, Npower announced a 10.4 percent increase in dual fuel bills, followed by British Gas with 9.2 percent, Scottish Power with 8.6 percent and SSE with 8.2 percent.
However, EDF Energy also issued a warning regarding the possibility of future additional increases, should the Government go back on a promise to review “green” levies. In statement EDF said: “If the Government makes bigger changes to the cost of its social and environmental schemes than EDF Energy has anticipated, the company pledges to pass these savings onto customers.”
“However, if changes to social and environmental programmes are less than anticipated, the company may have to review its standard variable prices again.”
This proves once more that implementing a solid and reliable Building Energy Management System is something every company and household should very seriously consider, on the long term, since it’s one of the most effective methods for companies, as well as home owners, to cut their overall energy bills.
Building Energy Management Systems are capable of delivering extensive monitoring and control options, compared to basic controls. They typically employ data from a variety of sources (boiler flow and return sensors, internal and external temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, humidity sensors, etc.), and enable the perfect optimization of a building’s boiler-based central heating system.
