614,000 UK customers switch energy suppliers in November, study reveals
Close to 614,000 people swapped supplier in the UK in November, the highest number of people switching since 2010, a new report from data company Electralink has recently revealed.
According to a news report on this matter, figures from this research also show that 125,000 of those switching are opting for a smaller, independent supplier, rather than one of the “Big Six” group, probably hoping to achieve some significant savings this way.
On the other hand, trade body Energy UK, which commissioned the aforementioned survey, described the results as “proof” the retail energy market is working well.
Angela Knight, Chief Executive of Energy UK said: “The sharp increase in the number of people switching between companies and the number of fast growing smaller suppliers… is an example of the energy market working, putting the needs of the customers first, providing a competitive and transparent market.”
Although switching suppliers can help customers save money on the short term, on the long term, optimization solutions such as HeatingSave should be considered the preferred solution.
Building Energy Management Systems are capable of delivering extensive monitoring and control options, compared to basic controls. They typically employ data from a variety of sources (boiler flow and return sensors, internal and external temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, humidity sensors, etc.), and enable the perfect optimization of a building’s boiler-based central heating system.
