Ireland to cut carbon emissions from the energy sector between 80% and 95% by 2050
Ireland has revealed plans to cut its carbon emissions from the energy sector between 80% and 95% by 2050, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.
A recent ‘White Paper’ by Energy Minister Alex White identifies actions the country will take to reduce its emissions by boosting renewables and energy efficient projects. The document also highlights the importance of citizens and communities to change the way the country generates, transmits, stores, conserves and uses energy.
Mr White added: “We will only achieve this ambitious degree of decarbonisation by engaging all citizens in energy policy and its implementation. Meeting the challenge of global warming can no longer be confined to the realm of international treaties or government decisions.
“It is about changing the way we heat our homes and businesses. It is about reassessing how we travel. It is about participating in decisions about the infrastructure needs of a low carbon Ireland.”

Energy management systems might represent a sizeable investment for any company, but the rapidly rising energy prices can actually deliver a very rapid return on investment, experts in the field have argued.
A recent paper on this topic has argued that over half of firms have appointed a senior director to manage energy spending and implement energy efficiency measures.
The range of energy saving programmes directors can vary largely, depending on the available funding, the company’s size, premises, site specifics.
However, regardless of the particular approach, directors who are serious about slashing their energy bills will need to consider retrofitting their premises in some way, whether we’re talking about putting in renewable energy measures or more complex Building Energy Management Systems.
An energy management and monitoring system can help companies stay on top of their energy usage and reduce their overall bills by running their light/heating systems in an optimum manner.
