8,000 pounds grants available for East Anglia SMEs purchasing energy saving measures

Energy management systems and advanced boiler control solutions are among the energy-saving purchases companies could be helped to make as part of the Low Carbon KEEP programme from Anglia Ruskin University, a media news report on the matter was able to reveal.

The scheme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and managed by Anglia Ruskin. It aims to hand out capital grants to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in the East of England for efficiency purchases.

The Capital Grant Scheme may cover more than one item, but the total outlay must be between £2,500 and £20,000 (excluding VAT). Eligible energy-saving measures include low-energy lighting, energy management systems and a variety of other tools and applications, with 40 per cent of the cost being covered.

Carole Randall, Low Carbon KEEP Programme Manager, said: “Our aim is that by doubling our capital grant, from £4k to £8k, we will attract the attention of businesses on the cusp of making major changes and therefore enable them to achieve those changes in a sustainable manner.”

Building Energy Management Systems are capable of delivering extensive monitoring and control options, compared to basic controls. They typically employ data from a variety of sources (boiler flow and return sensors, internal and external temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, humidity sensors, etc.), and enable the perfect optimization of a building’s boiler-based central heating system.
