Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) rising sharply in popularity
A new report from EEVS Insight and Bloomberg NEF shows that the number of projects using building energy management systems (BEMS) technology has sharply increased during the second quarter of 2018.
A BEMS uses computer systems to control, monitor, measure and optimise technical services and energy consumption.
The number of projects that included BEMS was 57% higher than the average of 42% during the year before. 65% of those new projects were in office environments, and 94% were from large firms of more than 1,000 employees.
The EEVS Insight and Bloomberg NEF report suggests that the technology is becoming almost as popular as LED lighting. Energy efficient lighting is still the most popular energy saving technology for now, with 69% of energy efficiency projects installing LEDs.
Sam Stageman, Sales Director at APC Lighting, said: “Once the preserve of cutting-edge, larger projects we are now seeing the use of BEMS expand as companies seek to maximise return on investments by using data to highlight opportunities for additional savings.
“What might have been a separate lighting control system in the past is made more user friendly when integrated with data on gas, electricity and energy usage from other processes such as cooling – providing a more complete picture.”
HeatingSave – the BEMS that can save you 30% on your utility bills
A building controlled by HeatingSave, the smart building energy management system, will be far more efficient than an older system. We have never failed to save a customer money on their bills and we have saved customers between 18% and 30% (usually between 20% and 25%).
What could you do with 25% more money in your bank account?
Our building management system is modern and flexible. Not only can you generate daily energy reports, but you can control many different settings from your mobile phone, and get immediate alerts if something goes awry. This gives you increased flexibility, and less worry.
HeatingSave uses a specialised algorithm to work out the latest possible moment to turn on your heating in order to reach your required temperature. This means you don’t have to leave the heating blasting just to keep the building at a suitable temperature.
Our efficient building management system can even detect whether or not there are people in the room thanks to its occupancy sensors, and it will adjust the temperatures accordingly. The whole philosophy is about avoiding waste.
The HeatingSave controller is compatible with the vast majority of makes of natural gas, oil, LPG, electric and heat pump systems, and can also control air-conditioning as “CoolingSave,” as well as solar panels and other forms of renewable energy.
