British sports fans to pay more for electricity
The large number of sporting events that schedules for this summer is likely to cause an overall hike in energy bills for those keen to watch them all, a recent news report has been able to suggest.
The fresh research from uSwitch.com reveals the average Brit will spend the equivalent of a working week watching sport on TV over the summer, with nearly 9% of sports fans having recently bought or planning to buy a new TV.
With 70% of consumers on the most expensive energy deals, sports fans could collectively save almost £2 million by switching to the cheapest tariff.
Tom Lyon, uSwitch.com Energy Expert said: “Hours sat in front of the TV is many a sport fan’s dream but it will add to already high energy bills. Switching energy provider could save Brits over £400 a year, more than covering the extra cost of watching sports this summer.”
