Companies should have up-to-date building management systems in today’s world.
A Cornish seaside resort town is overhauling the building management systems of its local swimming pool, Better, Splash Leisure Pool.
The pool says the ‘significant investment’ will modernise its behind the scenes plant equipment, ‘with huge environmental, financial and operational benefits for the leisure centre and our customers’.
There will be some service disruption, with the pool and coffee shop closing from September 3 to September 16. The estimated completion date is October 1.
The 16-week refurbishment intends replace all the expired and/or inefficient plant and equipment with the most advanced heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems available, delivering the consistent operational conditions expected in a modern day leisure centre. At the same time the new systems will be energy efficient and greatly reduce the centre’s carbon footprint to provide economic benefits.
Very basic electronic control will be replaced with the most sophisticated Building Energy Management System (BEMS) available to date. The BEMS design strategy will take total control of the plant so as to maximise operational efficiency and minimise energy usage whilst delivering the required environmental and operational conditions.
A spokesperson for Better said: “We would like to thank you for your patience during this vital work, and look forward to re-opening our pools and coffee shop on Monday, September 17.
“For more information, speak to a member of staff on your next visit to the centre, who will be happy to help.”
